The 2016 edition of Baselworld is nearly here and we usually get a small teaser from brands with some pre-releases. Today we bring you a new release which is related to the Olympics. Omega has been the Official Olympic Games Timekeeper on 26 occasions and has served in the same role at the previous three Youth Olympic Games.
The 2016 Winter Youth Olympics held in Lillehammer, Norway have just concluded and to commemorate the two year countdown to the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Omega has created a special edition timepiece.
Omega chose the Seamaster Aqua Terra for this limited edition of 2018 pieces. The striped PVD “teak concept” blue dial is eye catching and stands out against the 41 mm stainless steel case with steel bracelet. The words “PYEONGCHANG 2018 have been placed in the minute track and are in the official colours of the Olympics. The 20 and the 18 are perfectly aligned with the exact minute indexes. This is a very unique coincidence that cannot be repeated in our lifetime.
Flipping the watch over reveals the self winding Master Co-Axial movement 8500. The anti magnetic movement is resistant to over 15,000 gauss. It is visible through the sapphire caseback. The official Olympic Games PyeongChang 2018 logo in addition to the Olympic rings has been printed on the inside of the sapphire crystal. The limited edition number of the watch is engraved on the side of the watch case.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra “PyeongChang 2018” Limited Edition will be presented in its own Olympic themed box.
The watch will retail for $8,250 Singapore Dollars.
