New Release: H. Moser & Cie. Novelties

In this year’s SIHH, H. Moser & Cie. was probably one of the most controversial and talked-about manufacturers. It was all thanks to the Swiss Icons watch, which had generated a lot of buzz from both the collectors and press. That has somehow overshadowed the other novelties of H. Moser & Cie.

Besides the Swiss Icons watch, which is no longer available, H. Moser & Cie had launched a total of five different pieces in this year’s edition of the exhibition. We shall take a quick look at each of the novelties.

Endeavour Flying Hours

The Endeavour Flying Hours, with an unusual way of telling time.

The Endeavour Flying Hour is perhaps one of the most interesting novelties from the Schaffhausen-based watch manufacturer. For this timepiece, H. Moser & Cie had incorporated an entirely new method of time-telling. This is done through a disc system, inspired by the planetary systems that had led to the birth of modern watchmaking.

The mechanism features several planetary gears mounted on star wheels: in the centre, the main disc in sapphire displays the minutes on a 240° sector; three smaller discs bearing the hour numerals are arranged around it. Each planetary gear rotates on its own axis, and the actual hour is indicated in white on one of the three discs. That will rotate around the centre minute markers, before being replaced by the next disc once it reaches the 60 minute mark.

Powering the timepiece is the Calibre C806 – a joint effort between H. Moser & Cie. and Hautlence. The movement is based on H. Moser & Cie.’s HMC200. The automatic timepiece features a bi-directional winding system, and it boasts a decent power reserve of at least 3 days. The watch, fitted with a Funky Blue dial, is available with a limited production of 60 pieces. The 42mm watch will be paired with a matching beige Kudu leather strap.

Endeavour Tourbillon Concept

The Concept version of the Endeavour Tourbillon allows both the dial and tourbillon to shine.

H. Moser & Cie.’s minimalist approach is accentuated with the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept. The Endeavour Concept collection, which is known to produce watches that is completely devoid of any branding or indices, allows the tourbillon to shine.

The 42mm timepiece is encased in steel, and it is powered by the in-house HMC 804 self-winding calibre. It boasts a power reserve of approximately three days. Other features include the bi-directional pawl winding system, as well as the double flat hairspring that helps to improve isochronism and accuracy.

This timepiece is limited to a production of 20 pieces, and it is fitted with the brand’s signature fumé dial.

Heritage Tourbillon

The Heritage Tourbillon is a juxtaposition of the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept.

The Heritage Tourbillon is perhaps the antithesis of the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept. While the latter’s aim is to be minimalist, the Heritage Tourbillon intents to showcase the manufacturer’s craftsmanship.

The dial and case of the Heritage Tourbillon is certainly a work of art. This particular piece is fitted with a Grand Feu enamel dial, coupled with rounded Roman numerals and flame-blued swallow tail hands. On the other hand, the 42mm 18k white gold case is flanked with engraving and blue enamel on the sides. It combines the efforts of master engravers, guilloché workers, stone-setters and
enamellers. The result is certainly immense.

Similar to the Endeavour Tourbillon, the watch is powered by the in-house HMC 804 movement. It will be paired with a matching hand-stitched blue alligator leather strap.

Swiss Alp Watch Concept Cosmic Green

Apple Watch? No, it is H. Moser & Cie.’s Swiss Alp Watch Concept, with a Cosmic Green dial.

The concept of the Swiss Alps Watch was interesting. For some collectors, they would have noted that this watch attempts to take a jibe at the Apple Watch.

This year, H. Moser & Cie. had introduced a new variant of the watch. The watch is now available with a Cosmic Green fumé dial, with sunburst pattern. It is powered by the hand-wound HMC324 movement, with a power reserve of at least 4 days.

Additionally, as this piece is from the Concept collection, the watch will not include any indices or branding on the dial. This is certainly an interesting touch, and it definitely adds more weight in the message that it wants to send across. The watch will be cased in 18k white gold, and it will be limited to a production of 20 pieces.

Venturer Concept Blue Lagoon

The Venturer Concept Blue Lagoon, in red gold.

Last but not least, we have the new Venturer Concept Blue Lagoon.

This is the first time that H. Moser & Cie. had offered a Concept model for the 39mm Venturer case, and what would be better way than to launch it with a new dial variant? The Blue Lagoon is the latest to join the series, and its light blue fumé dial is certainly a breath of fresh air.

The Venturer Concept Blue Lagoon is available in either red or white gold, and it is paired with either a beige kudu or brown woven leather strap. It will be fitted with the hand-wound HMC 327 movement, with a power reserve of at least 3 days. The watch will be limited to a production of 20 models for each of the variant.
