Commentary

We have been in discussion with Andy Bica of Peren Watches since featuring the Transylvanian inspired watch on these pages. We reviewed the Hintz in 2020 and the Nera Rogue BW in 2022. Recently he sent us this press release of the new Peren Regia. Andy calls it the next step in design inspired by Transylvanian culture. Two versions are available: the Regia and Regia X, with only the bezel design being the differentiation.

The Regia watch is inspired by the Sarmizegetusa Regia Calendar, an ancient calendar system based on a lunar-solar cycle, combining the moon phases with the movement of the sun. It was used by the Dacians in Transylvania. This lunar-solar combination is reflected in the case and bezel design.

The case shows a vertical-horizontal line pattern while the bezel has a day and night color. The curved shape of the case also looks promising on the photos.  This video/photo(s) may give a good impression:

The Peren Regia houses a Sellta SW200-1 movement in a bead-blasted and hand polished 39mm stainless steel case with unidirectional rotating bezel. The watch can be used as a dive watch due to its water resistance of 200m.660ft. The watch also features flat sapphire glass and a new strap.
