The Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition and the Ventura XXL Bright Dune Limited Edition are the two models birthed from this collaboration. These watches are inspired by the ‘Desert Watch’ prop used by Paul Atreides in ‘Dune: Part Two’, a film that has captivated audiences with its visual storytelling and rich narrative drawn from Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel.
Hamilton’s history in cinema dates back to the 1930s, and its involvement in ‘Dune: Part Two’ is a continuation of this legacy. The brand has successfully translated Doug Harlocker’s prop sketches into functional, collectible timepieces that appeal not only to watch enthusiasts but also to fans of the ‘Dune’ series. The watches serve as a bridge between the fictional world of Arrakis and our own, offering a piece of that universe to wear on the wrist.
The Ventura XXL Bright Dune Limited Edition, is an analog quartz set atop a bright LED dial. Its design is a nod to the futuristic Ventura line, known for its angular shape and association with iconic films. The watch stretches 52mm across, featuring a black-PVD-finished stainless steel case and an integrated black rubber strap, which extends the lug-to-lug length. A unique feature is the extra button at the 9 o’clock position, used to activate blue LED details on the dial, reminiscent of the glowing blue eyes of the Fremen people.
The Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition is our preferred of the 2 models, with a digital display hours and minutes. The design is more unconventional as opposed to the three hands analog quartz model. That said, prices for both models are on the high side for those more accustomed to mechanical movements.
