The MTG-B3000CXD is a special edition watch released by G-SHOCK to commemorate the arrival of the Chinese Year of the Dragon in 2024. The watch is a fusion of metal and resin materials. The watch features laser engravings, golden IP coatings, and three-dimensional dragon scale designs, resulting in a magnificent golden-armored dragon aesthetic. The dragon pattern engraved on the watch’s back is the creation of Han Tianheng, a contemporary Chinese seal cutting artist and vice president of the esteemed Xiling Seal Society.

The watch is a well crafted premium G-SHOCK model that is build for durability but with more bells and whistles to its styling. The dragon scale design is a nice touch which looks more uniform compared to the more organic hand-hammered hammer tone (which is also 6x more expensive). The watch’s slim module and dual-core guard structure make it comfortable to wear and durable. The watch’s solar-powered feature reduces the need for battery changes while its bluetooth capability makes adjustments via an app much easier than pushing quartz buttons. It is however, on an extra large case which may be a challenge for some with smaller wrists.
