New: Franck Muller CURVEX™ CX

Commentary

Recently, Franck Muller introduced a new version of the Cintrée Curvex™, called the Curvex CX. This watch is a new variation on an old theme, mixing tradition and modernity. The Curvex CX has a re-engineered case where the sapphire crystal extends all the way to the bracelet, improving the visibility of the dial. The bezel, which is separate from the case, allows for different two-tone treatments. The dial displays the brand’s signature numerals, which are applied with matching hands with luminescent material. The movement is a self-winding mechanical caliber with a 42-hour power reserve.

The Curvex CX is offered in different sizes, materials, and colors, appealing to different tastes and preferences. Critics may find that while its iconic design is its best suit, the models’ iterations are losing general appeal and lack the same brand presence that it once enjoyed. That said, the new design modifications are much welcome and certainly lends more options for the buyer, given the new contrasting bezel and more modern, sporty look of the watch.

Press Release

With its perfectly curved case and unique contours, the Cintrée Curvex has been Franck Muller’s most distinctive silhouette since 1992. The unique and beautiful numeral design has also made the Cintrée Curvex one of the most immediately recognisable watch cases and dials.

We are proud to present a refreshed design which fully accentuates the timeless curves of the Cintrée Curvex, taking its already trademark contours to the next level. Having debuted in the impressive Grand Central Tourbillon, the Curvex CX is now seen in a new core collection. The completely redesigned Curvex case with a sapphire crystal extending all the way to the bracelet lends a substantially greater visibility to the dial, while a sleek bezel, separate from the case, allows for unique two-tone treatments. The “invisible” bezel also affords increased visibility to the dial by limiting the amount of material used on the sides, a technically challenging feat which injects new life into the classic case shape. With straps directly integrated into the case, the Curvex CX offers enhanced comfort on the wrist.

Specially developed for the Curvex CX, a new guilloché pattern was created, inspired by a Clous de Paris which is twisted, to give an impression of movement on the dial. Tiny three-dimensional pyramids on the dial reflect light off different facets, producing a scintillatingly mesmerising effect as they increase in size from the middle of the dial to the outer edges in perfect proportions. Extensive research and development were involved in calculating precisely the perfect pattern of the new Clous de Paris spiral.

Boasting a self-winding mechanical movement and a 42-hour power reserve, the Curvex CX is perfectly suited to the modern individual whose tastes naturally tend towards simplicity, elegance and an understated cool.
