Baselworld 2016 is here and Rolex have teased us in the last couple of days with a couple of short clips on Instagram and Facebook. We had a feeling we would see an updated Daytona and our guess proved correct! Introducing the new updated Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in stainless steel with Cerachrom bezel.
The modern Rolex Cosmograph Daytona finally receives the scratch resistant Cerachrom bezel, replacing the previous stainless steel bezel. This means no more scratches on the bezel and makes the watch look like its older vintage brothers! The font for the bezel is usually found on precious metal models but it has now been used on the new stainless steel models. The 904L stainless steel case remains at 40mm.
The dial of the Daytona remains unchanged apart from the sub dial registers. On the white lacquered dial version they are now a black colour with white markings, which makes them more legible. It is also reminiscent of the previous 16520 model which had coloured sub dials for the white dial. The black lacquered dial remains the same as the previous version.
Powering the watch is the Calibre 4130, Manufacture Rolex Mechanical chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical clutch Bidirectional self-winding via Perpetual rotor on ball bearing with a timing rating of −2/+2 sec/day, after casing.
The 904L stainless steel bracelet still retains its polished centre links with Oysterlock folding safety clasp and Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link.
The steel Daytona will be priced at 11,800 CHF.
We like the updated Daytona and are pleased to see the Cerachrom bezel on the stainless steel models & we will be bringing you a hands on review of the watches very soon! So keep an eye out for it.
