Last year, we ran the very successful #ShootYourWatches as a Photo Assignment during the quarantine times. We gave away some watch branded souvenirs to the winners. This year, for #ShootYourWatches2, we have a sponsor! Casio Singapore is offering the Edifice ECB-20D as a prize to the winner of this photo contest. Details of the prize and rules within.

#ShootYourWatches2 Photo Assignment returns with a Grand Prize

The Prize: Casio Edifice ECB-20D

Retail value: SGD 209

The Edifice series are purpose built watches used to measure race times – both cars and motorbikes. The ECB-20D is a variant of the ECB-20AT Scuderia AlphaTauri Edition which we have reviewed. The watch is a metal cased quartz driven chronograph with Bluetooth® connectivity to link to the smartphone, offering functions such as schedule timer and automatic time zone adjustment in accordance to your current location by using the application EDIFICE Connected.

The ECB-20D case is in massive 46mm diameter in stainless steel, and equipped with a stainless steel three link bracelet. However, as noted in the ECB-20AT review, the lugs angle inwards for a comfortable fit, and consequently, the watch wears smaller than the dimensions suggest.

Four screws hold the flat bezel in place. The bezel is marked in 10 minute intervals with engraved black arabic numerals, and is finished in a straight grained matte brushing with a polished anglage edge. The rest of the case and bracelet has a matte finish, with hints of straight graining.

The dial itself is a complicated affair. It provides the usual analog display for time and chronograph functions, but also additional digital features like the worldtimer, stopwatch, countdown timer, and alarm. The functions can be selected and triggered using watch’s crown and three pushers in various combinations.

The dial is black but accented with orange. The hour markers are thick rectangular strokes infilled with SuperLuminova. The rehaut is slightly sloped and marked with engraved lines as minute gradations, and highlighted every 5 minutes, to line up with the hour markers, with a Superluminova filled rectangle. The dial also has an LED light source so that the digital displays can be read in the dark.

The caseback is marked with the functions of each of the pushers, and the crown. And also engraved with the Bluetooth specifications. The movement is a quartz standardization movement which can be synchronized via Bluetooth to your Smartphone via the app. This simplifies timezone changes as the watch will automatically switch to the correct timezone when paired to the phone. No user intervention is needed, except that the phone needs to be within 2m away.

Note: The S superimposed over the back is a sticker which identifies the watch as a Sample. Customer delivery pieces will not have the S.

  1. Well, that sounds good 🙂 but you are not here to offer a part of your personal collection to reduce the frustation.
Of course I undestand rules comming from the sponsor, but this one is very reductive. They will miss a lot of photographers I think.

I’ll take a chance and submit an image anyway.
I love watch photography so, I will join the game regardless of the prize. 📸

  2. Rule #2
“The prize when awarded, must be collected in person in Singapore. Casio reserves the right to publicize the award ceremony”
Seriously ?!… so you already ban 99.9% of photographers who dont travel to Singapore. You should name this contest “Casio Singapore photocontest” it will be more accurate.
    Ridiculous

    • Well, Alan, that’s part of the consequence of a sponsor. The Singapore business unit contributed the watch, so they make some of the rules.

We did not really have a prize last year, and we got excellent responses. I gave away two small watch branded souvenirs from my private stash. And depending on the quality of the submissions, I will be happy to throw in a few of these again this year, for good entries from outside Singapore. How does that sound?
