We are off to Baselworld

And we are off. From tomorrow Wed March 20, Central European Time, we will be starting our “Live from Baselworld” broadcasts direct from the Messe floor. These live reports will take the form of a kind of live blogging, where we will be updating and sending live photographs of the novelties as we see them (probably with a small delay).

Hall 1.0 at Baselworld 2018. This year’s floor will be greatly changed with absence of The Swatch Group.

As with our “Live from SIHH” reports, these reports will be not be as polished as our usual posts. All photographs taken with an iPhone and uploaded via mobile. This is in place of the DLSR and portable-studio lighting equipment we use for almost all of the photography you see in these pages. But we figured you would prefer to see the information and photographs as soon as we see and handle the watches than to wait for a more polished presentation.

We wonder if the lilies which adorn the halls will remain.

The usual photography and analytical reports will follow later in the form of detailed reviews of the watches.

The live coverage will form the bulk of our articles for the following week, and press releases will be a lower priority. We pick up with our Writer’s Armchair Picks from Thursday Mar 28, rounding up with the Chief Editor’s Picks on Saturday Mar 31. And from thence, revert to our normal programming.

Stay tuned for some exciting coverage live from the Baselworld 2019. Hope you enjoy it.
