The Nomos Tangente in three sizes – 33mm, 35mm and 37mm, and in three colours – yellow, red and blue.

“Concentrating on the essentials” – the theme of the new series of limited edition Tangente models to honour the Bauhaus movement. The Bauhaus style is almost synonymous in horology to Nomos. and the Glashütte brand has been the poster boy. The German Bauhaus movement is turning 100 years old, and to mark this occassion, Nomos makes their Tangente, arguably the most Bauhaus of their watch collections in a nine part special edition, each version limited to 100 pieces.

These watches come in three sizes—33, 35, and 38 millimeters in diameter, for men and women alike, and each one comes in every primary color: a sketch paper colored dial, black numerals and hands, encircled by a ring of red, yellow, or blue.

Paul Klee’s sketches were the design inspiration. Klee once said, “Art makes things visible”. And the Nomos design takes this cue to make the hands follow a colour ring, each in either blue, yellow or red, depicting the basic principle of the watch – time moving in a circle.

“After all, they went about their work then the same way that we do now when it comes to designing our watches and the R&D that goes into the calibers. By concentrating on the essentials, leaving the superfluous to one side, and being incredibly demanding when it comes to the details that remain. By standing for the highest quality and a different, very contemporary kind of luxury. As well as a particularly beautiful form of ‘Made in Germany’.”

Uwe Ahrendt, CEO, Nomos

Although the watches are delivered with a closed case back, the Alpha movement is used in all nine versions. The movement is designed and manufactured in-house by Nomos. It is manual winding and carries many of the accoutrement of traditional Glashütte watchmaking style. Three quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing with a stop seconds mechanism.
