Girard-Perregaux relooked at the Laureato line this year with good success. We carried full detailed reviews of the watches here: the Laureato, the Laureato Tourbillon and the release news of the new Laureato Black Ceramic. And here, prior to SIHH 2018, Girard-Perregaux released the Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton.
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton
The original Laureato was created in 1975, and the Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton features subtle design changes made by Stefano Macaluso which was update the entire line released this year. The case carries the new Laureato DNA, in 42mm diameter, and available in either 18k pink or white gold, both with a supple bracelet of the same metal.
This latest release is skeletonised to provide an view through the openworked dial, and shows the architecture of the movement. The openwork is a classic offering from GP, who have offered this styling element since their early years. Here, the movement is the caliber GP09520-001, and is a rather large diameter caliber. The mainplate, bridges and oscillating weight is visible through the skeletonised front. Most of the 262 components can be visible, some with a bit of peeking, through the dial side.
The fixed elements on the plates are done in black PVD to enhance the visual aesthetics of the going train and that the flying tourbillon is highlited. The flying tourbillon takes pride of place at 12 o’clock.
