Casio will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its GSHOCK brand in 2018. To mark this key milestone, CASIO Singapore will be flying one lucky G-Shock fan to New York City to attend the G-SHOCK: “Shock the World” premiere on 9 November 2017. Besides that, two lucky winners will also stand to win a full set of the limited edition 35th anniversary BIG BANG BLACK collection.

The new watches
Five new G-SHOCK watches will be released in a new matte black colour, which is symbolic of the brand. The matt finish is a new colour base which achieves a flat black finish which seems to absorb all light. The case back is in bright gold to contrast with the matt black. Called the Big Bang, the state of the universe during creation, the black is a symbol of the darkness and emptiness before the origin of the univese, and the bright gold represents the mega explosion of the Big Bang.

The case back is engraved with the G-SHOCK 35th anniversary logo designed by Eric Haze, a world famous graphic artist, while the metal band loops are emblazoned with a star emblem that represents 35 years. The phrase, “SINCE 1983” is featured on the dials, and special packaging has also been created to further enhance this very exceptional collection.
This new collection reflects on Casio’s commitment to the G-Shock family, a collection which is extremely successful since its creation in 1983 by Kikuo Ibe who had set out to create a watch which is virtually unbreakable two years previous. He rejected the idea that wristwatches are fragile and easy to break and after 200 prototypes and two years of development, the first G-SHOCK model with the now famous shock resistant structure was released in 1983.
