Commentary

A new interpretation for a set watch. Each Hanhart set comprise of a wristwatch and a pocket watch. And not just any wristwatch, but one of their excellent 417 Pilot Chronograph in a different aesthetic. Including the chronograph button which is painted red, with its own romantic story.

The two colours chosen are rather spectacular. One with a beautiful blue dial, accented in red, and the other, equally handsome in a grey dial, also with red accents.

What we find interesting is also the included pocket stop watch. The stop watch features what Hanhart specifies as their in-house manufacture caliber 122.

The wrist watch featues the Sellita 5100 M movement, while the pocket watch uses the Hanhart manufactured caliber 122.

And it is delivered with a stand which can be used on a dashboard, or on the table top.

And of course, the stop watch can be used as a pocket watch. Quite a nice touch.

And all for the princely sum of just under EUR 2.8k for the set of two. Rather reasonable, we think.

Red X Blue and Red X Grey: Flyback in double version

With two twin sets, each limited to 140 pieces, the traditional manufacturer Hanhart from the Black Forest is putting the spotlight on its manufacturing expertise in the stopwatch sector. The wristwatch and stopwatch combinations are not only the perfect companion for rally enthusiasts: equipped with a dashboard and table stand, the high-quality flyback stopwatch is also a desk accessory that attracts everyone’s attention.

When Hanhart produced the first affordable stopwatch in 1924, the watch manufacturer from Gütenbach fastly became the most important German manufacturer and market leader for mechanical and electronic timepieces. Hanhart became a global player within the last century, when its stopwatches were part of the basic equipment of every referee or race director at all important sporting events and car races.

The new, limited edition twin sets each consist of a wrist chronograph, an addition stopper, a dashboard plate and a table stand. The sets are available with a royal blue or anthracite-colored dial. The dials of both versions shine with a sunburst finish, which shows different facets depending on the incidence of light and brightness.

In keeping with its long tradition in the production of chronographs, Hanhart launches the chronographs and the addition stopper with flyback function. Throughout history, the tempo setting – as the flyback function is also known – has been an important function on race tracks. The mechanism allows a new time interval to be measured immediately by pressing the reset button: this meant that lap times could be measured precisely without interruption.

Hanhart’s own manufacture caliber 122 is used in the addition stopper. The wrist chronograph features the first-class AMT5100 M caliber from Sellita’s “Manufacture AMT” department. Both watches control the chronograph via a column wheel. When fully wound, the stopwatch has a power reserve of at least 10 hours and the wristwatch has a power reserve of at least 58 hours. Both calibers are classically wound by hand. They are robust, reliable and a joy for every chronograph fan.

The internally anti-reflective, slightly curved sapphire crystal on the wrist chronograph guarantees absolute scratch resistance. With a diameter of 39 mm and a case height of around 14.5 mm, the watch is extremely comfortable to wear. With a water resistance of 10 atmospheres, the chronograph is also optimally protected against moisture. The wrist chronograph has a case back with the limited edition number XXX/140 and a sapphire crystal inlay, which reveals the flyback column wheel caliber.

The SuperLuminova®-coated numerals and hands of the wristwatch ensure perfect legibility even at night. The practical, infinitely adjustable rotating bezel with red insert reflects the racing character of the watch. The crown with the historic Hanhart “h” ensures easy operation.

The Red X Blue or Red X Grey is comfortable to wear from day one on the strap made of blue or gray cowhide with a suede look. The color tone and the red cross stitching on the lugs give the chronograph a unique character. A pin buckle with the Hanhart logo ensures a secure fit.
