For Baselworld 2016, Blancpain releases their Villeret Quantième Annuel GMT in steel for for the first time.
The stainless steel case is 40mm in diameter. Quantième Annuel is french for annual calendar and as its name suggests it only needs adjustment once a year at the end of February. Every other month, the watch will take care things without the wearers intervention.
The dial is white and features applied sliver roman numerals for the hour markers. The sliver hour and minute hands are leaf shaped and the running seconds hand is also sliver and its counterweight is the Blancpain logo.
The day, date and month are placed on the right hand side of the dial and are visible through apertures which have been spaced apart for optimal legibility.
Located at the 8 o’clock position is the 24hr counter which allows for tracking of a 2nd timezone. The GMT display local time is provided by the central hours hand to which the date is linked.
Powering the watch is the self-winding 6054F caliber with a yellow gold rotor with a guilloché motif. It has a power reserve of 72 hours.
The case is fitted with Blancpain’s exclusive patented under-lug correctors. The one at 1 o’clock enables simple manual adjustment of the day of the week; while the other at 5 o’clock adjusts the month. Fast GMT and date corrections, along with time-setting, are all handled via the crown.
The watch comes with a fitted with a black alligator strap and triple-blade folding clasp.
