Following the success of Royal Oak Frosted Gold that was released in November 2016, Audemars Piguet are releasing a 200-piece limited edition Royal Oak Frosted Gold in a modern 41mm size. This exclusive piece features a 18-carat frosted white gold case and bracelet, glare-proof sapphire caseback, along with the trademark Grand Tapisserie dial and luminescent Royal Oak hands.

The highly aesthetic frosted gold effect is otherwise known as a Florentine finish, which has been around for a number of decades but predominantly featured on smaller jewellery pieces. The texture is created by repeatedly marking the precious metal with a diamond tipped tool and this creates tiny indentations on the surface of the white gold to give the sparkle similar to that of precious stones.

Applying this delicate technique to a larger piece such as the Royal Oak required the master craftsmen at Audemars Piguet to execute on a larger surface area, yet at the same time maintaining the sharp, clean lines that we have come to know and expect from the Royal Oak line.
