Singapore is a country, a city-state in Southeast Asia no bigger than 719 square kilometres. Its tiny size on the map earned it the nickname “little red dot”. Now, no matter which country you are in, patriotism stays with you as you will be reminded of Home by that little red dot on your wrist.
It was during the 2016 NOMOS and The Hour Glass mutual event that the avid collectors asked for a “Singapore edition” of the Zürich Weltzeit: a clean, legible, well-loved timepiece by the global traveller. With the push of a button located at the 2 o’clock position, one can tell the time of any city (or time zone) as indicated on the rotating disc.
Now in 2017, it will be available as a limited edition for The Hour Glass and Watches of Switzerland. Within this limited edition, Singapore has its own place on the dial’s city disk. And instead of the iconic “home” symbol, now in place is a little red dot, indicating the time in 24-hour format. Wherever the watch’s wearer happens to be, the little red dot on the right side of the dial shows what time it is at home.

The 50-piece limited edition also marks the second anniversary of the cooperation between The Hour Glass and NOMOS Glashütte. 35 pieces will come with a NOMOS’ classic white silver-plated dial, while another 15 are available with a new salmon-colored dial.
The sapphire crystal glass back presents a view of the fine mechanical movement that ticks at heart of the watch: the NOMOS automatic caliber DUW 5201, developed and constructed in-house in Glashütte, Germany.
The timepieces will be sold in selected The Hour Glass and Watches of Switzerland stores in Singapore from 28 September 2017 at RRP SGD 8,560.

I think the team at NOMOS was not thinking of a male/female piece which is why they did not consider Singa or Vanda… having said that, The Little Red Dot is a nice touch to make reference to Singapore. We are after all, know as the little red dot to many. Perhaps they could have a engraved a Merlion on the movement side.

This was exactly my point. Nomos team could have done more rather than simply a color change and calling it a Singapore edition. For example, a small ‘Singa’ for men and ‘Vanda’ for women edition on the dial would have been a good touch. That’s just my option.
Peter how’s the salmon dial in the metal? I have seen other live pics at ablogtowatch where the salmon dial looks rather patchy

it is ravishingly beautiful. But I was told, all the salmon dials have been sold out!
This is what’s called lack of creativity. It’s a lovely watch and received praises when introduced earlier. But really, Singapore edition with simply highlighting the name. It reflects poorly on such a creative team that Nomos has. Watch is beautiful but this sounds more like gimmickry and desperation.
