Commentary

Gorilla releases a new limited edition of their Fastback GT in an orange colour scheme. The watch is not new. We reviewed the Fastback GT, a lineup currently featuring some 8 watches. The collection features models with various plays in the colour palette and the use of materials for the layered construction of the case.

The closest model is perhaps the Leon Racing, which features a yellow colour scheme, while the Sunset is in orange and blue. The case of both the Fastback GT Sunset and the Fastback Leon Racing is made from layered forged carbon case, with an anodized aliminium pinstripe on the flange – yellow on the Leon Racing, and blue on the Sunset.

The movement retains the same Miyota Cal. 90S5, a time only automatic movement visible from the open case back. The movement is nothing special in terms of finishing or execution, but is a well known workhorse, with an excellent reputation for years of reliable and accurate timekeeping.

At SGD 2.7k, the limited edition is priced similarly to the Leon Racing, which had an issue size of 300 pieces retailing at USD 1,790 (approx SGD 2.6k). The Leon Racing is now sold out.

Luxury watch e-retailer Sincerewatch.com has collaborated with Swiss independent watch brand Gorilla to launch the exclusive Fastback GT Sunset LE. The timepiece’s bold attitude and vibrant colours pays tribute to the unique “under-lights” Marina Bay Street Circuit, the first and only open-wheeled single-seat nighttime race on the GP calendar.

The limited edition collaboration is based on Gorilla’s freshly-redesigned Fastback GT. True to Gorilla’s automotive-inspired roots, the Fastback GT Sunset LE combines a duo of radiant orange and shades of blue with Gorilla’s signature blend of high-performance carbon composites and titanium alloy to offer an ultra bespoke Singapore Sunset.

The carbon dial of the Fastback GT Sunset LE is complemented by the anodized flange with horizontal brushed finish. The applied numerals, skeletonized hour disc, minute hand and hour markers are rendered in white Super-LumiNovaTM for maximum legibility. An aperture at 17h30 and a specific skeletonized hour disc expose the beating heart of the 90S5 caliber.

The Fastback GT Sunset LE is created in a limited edition run of 100 pieces worldwide. The timepiece boasts a 44mm forged carbon case, an off-centered forged carbon bezel, all new applied titanium crown guards, and a newly sculpted bi-color VitonTM strap. It is rated water resistant to 100M.
