Watchscapes: Czapek Genève Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph – Salmon series

We brought you news of the new salmon series of Czapek’s Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph just before Baselworld. And our live coverage provided you with more photographs of the salmon dials. But many have requested us to show exactly how the colours look like. Well, here is our Watchscape piece with our high resolution photographs.

We covered the Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph in a detailed review from last year. Click here for that article.

The photographs are shot with our Baselworld setup, using the Leica SL Type 601 with the Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60 f/2.8 ASPH and Profoto Compact 600 Studio Monoblock lights. The photographs are then converted from raw to jpeg in Adobe Camera Raw CC, and adjusted on Photoshop CC on our calibrated monitor to look as we remembered it, when handling the watches live.

However, the internet does strange things to the colour profiling, and depending on your viewing device, the colours may or may not be accurate. We have done the best option for online, and have embedded the colour profile within the jpeg just as a reference, if your browser and monitors are capable of using the information, you should get an accurate rendition.

Without further ado, here are the photographs:

We begin with the Sockeye:

We find the contrast between the “salmon” hue of the dial and the blue subdials to be very attractive.

Detail of the Sockeye dial. In this image, the lighting is a bit darker, resulting in a slightly darker hue to the “salmon” than in the other photographs. Eyeballing on our calibrated monitor, the other photographs are more accurate in the exact hue.

The dial detail, shown above illustrates the special guilloché dial. This is done on the traditional Rose Engine at Metalem, Czapek’s partner in Le Locle. The special pattern, called “Résonance,” is derived from the “Ricochet” pattern of the Quai des Bergues collection: concentric circles originating from the two subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock intersect and form bas-relief squares.

Next, the King Salmon. With the same “salmon” hued dial, but without contrasting sub-dials. The same guilloché is used on this dial as well.

The Coho shows the same base, but with white sub-dials.

And finally, the Chinook. The pattern remains the same, but the colours are reversed – with the background in blue contrasting to the “salmon” coloured sub-dials.

All share the same movement as all the chronographs of the Faubourg de Cracovie – the caliber SXH3.

We hope this gives you an accurate idea of how the colour scheme looks like. And it has been useful for you to decide the one you like best. Which is your favourite?

Another pic of the Sockeye…no need to guess that this is our choice.
