The movement again stands out as being very impressive in our handling session. This is the same movement that was used in the Cartier Tortue Collection Privé, and it remains as impressive as ever. The movement was created by THA for Cartier, and the rights were purchased by La Joux Perret after the principals of THA, namely François-Paul Journe, Vianney Halter and Denis Flaggeolet decided to part ways. The monopusher touch and feel is excellent, requiring a soft effort to engage all the three modes of start, stop and reset, while providing a nice feedback of each. The watch has a very vintage look about it, especially the model in yellow gold with its pale nickel silver dial.

Arnold & Son Constant-Force Tourbillon 11

We covered the release details with our initial commentary in this article published on March 24. As we had a quick hands on with the novelties at WwG25, we now include our hands-on impressions. The Arnold & Son Constant Force Tourbillon 11, Ref. 1FCBJ.E01A.C246J will retail at CHF 129,000.

This is a nice touch to the celebrations of the anniversary of A.L.Breguet’s patent of the tourbillon and points to the roots of the relationship between Abraham Louis Breguet, the famous Swiss watchmaker practicing his art in Paris, and is considered by many to be the father of modern watchmaking and his English friend John Arnold. Breguet’s tourbillon invention was created on a base movement made by and was gifted to him by Arnold. And a gesture of their friendship was the original watch was gifted back to Arnold’s son after the elder has passed on. The watch, number 11, remains in the collection of the British Museum today.

This Arnold & Son’s novelty, the Constant-Force Tourbillon 11 pays homage to this original timepiece.
