New: Tutima Flieger T5 in titanium
The Tutima Flieger T5 retails at EUR 1,950 in the Horween leather strap (ref. 6109-03) and EUR 2,350 in matching titanium bracelet (Ref. 6109-02 in black dial, and 6109-04 in blue dial).
Insights and commentary
This is a reintroduction of the Tutima Flieger watch which we reviewed back in 2019 in a green dial. But with two important changes. The Flieger T5 now sports a case which is now 38.5mm instead of 41mm, so better suited for today’s marketplace where this case size sits right in the middle of the preferred size. And perhaps more importantly, the case (and bracelet) is now in grade 5 titanium in place of stainless steel. The design of the case, bracelet and dial remains largely unchanged, though perhaps Tutima did take advantage to revise the design slighly.
Two versions are offered by Tutima. One in a black dial, and another with a blue dial. Both dials are glossy, and carry the classical pilot’s watch dial layout. Clear, legible, with the signature red sweep seconds hand.
The movement remains the Tutima 330, which is essentially a ETA2836/SW200 movement.
The watch also remains an excellent tool watch, ready for the urban warrior’s daily tasks or even to be used by pilots for in-flight use.

38.5 mm in diameter, Grade 5 titanium, and 100 percent pilot’s-watch DNA: with the new Flieger T5, Tutima Glashütte combines decades of aviation know-how with longstanding expertise in the use of the high-tech material titanium.
Designed for aviation, the three-hand watch convinces far beyond the cockpit with optimum legibility. The lance-shaped hour and minute hands, Arabic numerals, and baton-style hour markers stand out in high contrast against the either black or blue lacquered dial. Thanks to Super-LumiNova material, the time remains legible even in challenging lighting conditions. The characteristic triangular zero index provides additional orientation. While the date display blends discreetly into the dial at the six o’clock position, the red central seconds hand and the minute track in five minute increments reinforce the watch’s instrument-like design.
High Tech for High Performance
It is not only the intuitive dial design that has its origins in aerospace technology, but also the Grade 5 titanium used to manufacture the compact 38.5 mm case. Grade 5 titanium is a special alloy consisting of 90 percent titanium, with the addition of six percent aluminum and four percent vanadium providing enhanced durable strength and dimensional stability.
The alloy combines the many advantages of pure titanium – including high corrosion resistance, antimagnetic properties, and excellent biocompatibility at low density – with exceptional resistance to external forces and extreme temperatures.
As a pioneer, Tutima had already chosen titanium for its groundbreaking Bundeswehr and NATO chronograph, and has since accumulated decades of experience working with this highly functional material. This expertise in lightweight engineering also shapes the new Flieger T5. Together with the ergonomically profiled, screw-down crown and scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the titanium case – pressure-tested up to 10 atm – reliably protects the automatic movement Tutima 330 from the turbulence of everyday life. The screw-in caseback with sapphire crystal offers a view of the caliber, which was precisely regulated by hand. The rhodium-plated rotor bears the brand’s emblem in 18-karat gold – a hallmark of quality down the very last detail.
A Sporty All-Rounder or a True Flieger Watch
While satin-finished surfaces of the case emphasize the functional tool-watch character, polished elements add elegant accents. These details continue seamlessly into the supple three-row titanium bracelet with polished center-links. For a distinctly nostalgic aviation look, the watch can also be paired with a brown Horween leather strap featuring light contrast stitching and a lining in the blue tone of the dial.
Titanium belongs to the family of so-called refractory metals – a name derived from the Latin word refractarius , meaning “resistant” or “unyielding.” In recognition of the material’s exceptional resilience, titanium was named after the Titans, the powerful giants of Greek mythology. This strength is also embodied in the new Flieger T5 – albeit in a wonderfully compact and lightweight construction.
