Spot the Watch: NCIS and the Rolex Daytona in Everose Gold

We have been monitoring the TV show NCIS, since we initially spotted the familiar sight of a gold Oyster bracelet on the wrist of Special Agent Timothy McGee, played by Sean Murray.  The author finally managed to make an ID after catching up the current episodes and in the episode “Voices” finally got a money shot.

We have seen previously in movies and TV shows, that some actors accidentally wear their own timepieces while filming.  In most cases, the watch is never given any close up shots and can only be observed from afar.  An example of this is Katie Cassidy in Arrow and her Rolex Milgauss GV, where no close up shots are seen but you can see the familiar green sapphire crystal.

In the case of NCIS, the rose gold Rolex Daytona is most likely Sean Murray’s personal watch and he doesn’t like to take it off during filming.  Would a NCIS Special Agent wear a US$30,000 timepiece on the job? Highly unlikely.  Since he wears it on the right wrist the profile of the watch is muted since the crown and chronograph pushers are hidden but the familiar tri-compax layout and Rolex crown on the dial are still visible.

  1. Well done spotting the watch. However McGee steals the watch from the desk of the head of his evil captors during his escape with Gibbs from the ship in Paraguay. See season fifteen, episode one.

  2. Actually, in the series, Tim McGee is a successful mystery writer in addition to being an NCIS agent. He could very well afford a gold Rolex Daytona. And he wears it on his right arm because he, actor Sean Murray, is left handed.
