CITIZEN will be launching a new limited-edition 870 Mechanical model to celebrate the first anniversary of the relaunch of the Series 8 collection of watches that provide both functionality and practicality with a modern, sporty look. This exciting new all-black model will be released in a limited-edition of 700 pieces worldwide.

The retail price of the Citizen Series 8 Model 870 Mechanical 1st Anniversary is approximately USD 2,000.
The Case and Dial
This limited-edition model is being released to celebrate the first anniversary of the relaunch of the Series 8 collection of mechanical watches. The case with its eye-catching two-piece bezel is made of stainless steel finished with Duratect DLC. The all-black color scheme is pure simplicity with bold hands and indices.
The case measures 40.8mm by 11.4mm.
Beneath the sapphire glass, the black dial is made of lightweight and durable carbon, the same material used in aircraft and high-performance sports cars, and a first for the Series 8 collection. This limited-edition model has other special features – it is the first Series 8 watch with a transparent case back that showcases the movement of the balance wheel and the rotor inside.
The Movement
The watch also has enhanced magnetic resistance to ensure that it keeps accurate time without being affected by magnetic fields generated by smartphones, tablets, and other devices in our digital society. The automatic movement inside, Cal.0950 achieves an average daily accuracy of -5 to +10 seconds with a running time of approximately 50 hours.
The watch is fit with a rubber strap on a deployant clasp. It uses an integrated lugs design with a large rectangular end link.
Citizen’s series 8 is the brand’s answer to the hybrid sports watch category. Using a DLC case and carbon dial with rubber strap, the watch is very much styled with motorsports/dive watch inflections. 700 pieces of the Citizen Series 8 870 Mechanical First Anniversary Limited Model will be made, and the watch is expected to be available through authorized dealers later this year. The watch is priced at approximately US$2000.
