Commentary
Riding on the success of the Watch Ho & Co(mmunity) × Selten Jui, the two brands have reunited to unveil the latest variant in the series: the Jui Bauhinia. This new edition is offered in two distinctive dial colours, Pink and Purple. Both inspired by the Bauhinia flower featured on the Hong Kong flag. Each variant is limited to just 200 pieces worldwide, reinforcing its exclusivity and collectability.
At the heart of the Jui Bauhinia lies a stunning dial crafted from natural white mother-of-pearl (MOP), delicately tinted to achieve its luscious, iridescent finish. The surface is then meticulously engraved using CNC machining to create the signature Mountain Pattern, a design element first introduced in the original Jui and now further refined in this latest iteration.
Beyond the captivating dial, it is the heat-treated hands that truly steal the show. The purple hands on the pink dial and the blue hands on the purple dial are achieved through a painstaking heating process. This technique is extremely demanding, where even the slightest miscalculation can result in an undesirable finish, rendering the component unusable. The precision required speaks volumes about the level of craftsmanship involved.
While the Jui Bauhinia shares the same specifications and “powertrain” as the first-generation Jui, it feels like a significant upgrade in execution. The enhanced detailing and added intricacy elevate the overall experience. The moment we strapped it onto the wrist, the vibrancy of the dial and the striking contrast of the heat-treated hands immediately won us over.
It is perhaps fair to say that the Jui Bauhinia has become our favourite variant in the Jui collection to date and one that will be exceedingly difficult for Jacky and his team to surpass.

There are timepieces that track hours and minutes and then there are those that capture the heart of a community.
In August 2025, a small collaboration between the Hong Kong-based watch club Watch Ho & Co(mmunity) and independent microbrand Selten released a watch born from a simple, powerful feeling of belonging. That watch; the original Jui ( 聚 – to meet, to gather) did more than commemorate a second anniversary; it tugged at collectors’ heartstrings across the globe, sparking an endearing conversation about fraternity and camaraderie that refused to fade long after the final piece was spoken for.
Today, in response to that enduring pulse of interest, the story continues. We are proud to present Jui Bauhinia: a pair of unisex timepieces, the ultimate couple’s watch that marry the philosophy of gathering with the floral soul of the city where this collaboration was birthed.
A Dial of Shifting Light and Heritage
The Bauhinia flower is the heartbeat of Hong Kong, serving as the enduring emblem on the city’s flag. It is a bloom that flourishes amidst the concrete and steel of the metropolis, representing a spirit of unity and resilience. In this new edition, the Bauhinia stands as a metaphor for the collector community: beautiful and wise in its individuality, yet most powerful when seen as a symbol of collective prosperity.
Jui Bauhinia captures this symbolism through dials meticulously carved from premium pieces of natural white mother-of-pearl. The magic of the dial lies in its transformation: infused with the romantic pink and purple shades of the bloom, the surface is never static. Depending on the angle and the quality of light, the colors dance; shifting from delicate, ethereal pastels to vibrant pinks and rich purples. The interplay ensures the canvas remains dynamic. In certain lighting, the natural, milky white lustre of the mother-of-pearl re-emerges, providing a serene, opalescent backdrop
Amidst these shifting hues, the Mountain Pattern makes its return. Originally featured on the inaugural Jui, this ancient motif once worn on the body armour of soldiers in Ancient China; an interlocking design that symbolised unity, safety and quiet strength. While the Jui Bauhinia introduces a new aesthetic, the significance of this motif remains identical to the original Jui.
It is a visual tribute to the collector community. Each pattern represents a collector; you, me, and others worldwide, illustrating how we are all interconnected through a shared passion. Surrounding the motifs are rings of finely intersecting circles, representing our local communities, regional clubs and the diverse styles of collecting we enjoy. Ultimately the largest circle of all, the dial itself; serves as a symbol for the global Watchfam, the worldwide collector community that brings us together through a common horological bond.
Brought to life via digital CNC precision, the Mountain Pattern creates a mesmerising play of light on the dial. As the wrist moves, the mother-ofpearl breathes, revealing fleeting flashes of emerald and azure hidden within the iridescent layers, reflecting the multifaceted energy and thriving spirit of Hong Kong itself
The Poetry of Detail
Camaraderie over Combat: The heat-treated purple and blue skeletonized sword hands gesture not toward hostility, but toward fellowship. They represent a safe space where curiosity is welcomed and individuality is celebrated.
The Second Chapter: Positioned at 2 o’clock, the Chinese character 二 serves as a discreet hallmark of this significant second edition.
A Living Philosophy: The exhibition caseback reveals the dependable Miyota 9039 movement and a custom rotor with the soul of the project etched onto the sapphire:
“聚人聚時聚故事”
A place where people, time, and stories come together.
This meaningful phrase in Chinese is colour matched in purple and blue to compliment the hands and chapter ring indices.
