We visited Rudis Sylva, tucked in a small village known as Les Bois, some 12km from La Chaux-du-Fonds. What is fascinating is the history of watchmaking from the turn of the 20th century, and the importance of this little settlement.
New Video: Brief introduction to Rudis Sylva in Les Bois
I was introduced to Jacky Epitaux of Rudis Sylva by none other than Philippe Dufour, who was impressed with the work that he has done, not only to promote the artisans in watchmaking offering the highest quality in the business, but also his passion for the region and its historical importance to horology.
We had Jacky introduce the farmhouse which serves as the HQ of Rudis Sylva. This is the first of a series of videos we will be doing on Rudis Sylva. In the process, we will discover how they came to discover the harmonious oscillator, which the maison currently holds the patent for. And how they leverage on the exclusive neighbours in the village to deliver a top level watchmaking product.
