Commentary
This two novelty addition to the UN 39mm Diver collection makes the Ladies Diver collection total 19 references. The base watch remains the same. A solid steel case which boasts of 80% recycled steel in 39mm. Water resistance rating of 300m makes this a real dive watch, though the diamonds embellishing the bezel tells us that it is probably going to spend almost all of its life as a desk diver.
The aesthetics of the watch is very strong, especially the magnificently beautiful dial. Despite its name, the dial is not made from coral, as Atoll might suggest, but is a slice from crystalline stone mineral known as chrysocolla. It is a copper ore, and has a cyan (blue-green) colour. It exhibits different shades of blue and turquiose in a pattern which is unique to each cut. Perhaps reminiscent of the image which comes to mind when one thinks of an atoll. Especially as seen from the air. The colour is in nice contrast to the 11 diamonds which serve as indices, and with the dive bezel, also encrusted with diamonds (40 in number, totalling 0.8 cts).
The movement, UN-816 is a derivative of the Sellita SW300-1, and though rather common is a true workhorse and should prove fit for the job.

The Diver Atoll features a stainless-steel case with polished and satin-brushed finishes, in which 80% of the steel is recycled – a reflection of Ulysse Nardin’s continuing commitment to sustainable practices that’s manifested around the Diver collection. For additional elegance, the uni-directional rotating bezel is set with 40 diamonds, while a further 11 diamonds adorn the hour indexes, for a total of 0.92 carats. The watch is presented with a sports chic white rubber strap or white alligator strap.
Water resistant down to 300 meters, it is powered by the automatic movement UN-816, featuring Ulysse Nardin’s revolutionary silicon escapement technology, a cutting-edge material first introduced by the brand in 2001 when the iconic Freak timepiece was launched.
