New: Tissot releases a COSC version of the Ballade

The Tissot Ballade COSC Powermatic has a retail price of SGD 1,380 inclusive of GST/ CHF 850 for both the 40mm and 38mm versions in steel, and SGD 1,500 inclusive of GST / CHF 930 for both the two toned variants.

Commentary

The Tissot Powermatic has been a key movement with the maison since it was first launched. The movement now receives a COSC certification is used in the new Ballade Collection. This is the first time a mechanical movement has been used in the collection, with the previous models being only offered with quartz movements.

The Ballade collection is notable for its fluted bezel, which reminds one of those fitted on various Rolex models. But this bezel is hardly unique to Rolex, though they invented the styling way back in 1926. However, the design is currently not proprietary to them. For example the Omega Constellation collection features this same styling for the bezel on all 11 current models, including the Globemaster Annual Calendar we reviewed.

A total of 7 novelties are released in either a 39mm case or 30mm case. The design language is consistent in the collection. The fluted bezel remains the signature, over a brushed and polished case and bracelet with 100m water resistance. The watches are all equipped with a sapphire case back to view the movements. The 39mm cased models get the Powermatic 80 with 80 hours of power reserve, and the 30mm versions get the Powermatic 48, with 48 hours of autonomy.

The 39mm versions are offered in full steel with silver, dark blue or dark green dials, and a two tone version with PVD yellow gold on the bezel and mid links with a solver dial. The 30mm versions are offered also in ful gold with either an ice blue or silver dial, with the two tone variant in a silver dial with rose gold accents.

Release details

Born in 1853, Tissot has shaped time through creations that defined generations. From the open seas with the Seastar to the retro allure of the PRX, and the racing spirit of the PR 516, the brand has introduced designs that became symbols of their era, creations that continue writing new chapters as time moves forward. Across its archives lie hidden gems, each with a story waiting to be retold. The Ballade is one of them. First launched in 1994, it was a statement of modernity in a world still bound by conventions.

Three decades later, that spirit lives on, as Tissot keeps its legacy alive — drawing from the past to shape the present with renewed vision. Relaunched in 2024 for its 30th anniversary, the Ballade enters a new chapter in 2025 with an automatic version, equipped with the certified precision of the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).

A Familiar Face, Perfected with Time

There are things that only get better with time, the Ballade is a perfect illustration. A true testament to Tissot’s savoir-faire, its design has evolved over the years, carrying the marks of experience. In 2025, the latest additions to the collection come in 39 mm and 30 mm, each expressing the same timeless spirit in a different proportion. The 39 mm edition with dial options in silver, deep blue, or green sunburst embodies the balance between heritage and modernity, each tone selected to echo the evolution of style through time. A fourth variant combines a bi-colour PVD yellow gold case with a silver sunburst dial, bringing the visual codes of luxury watchmaking to the collection. The 30mm model offers a smaller frame, yet every detail speaks with the same strength. It exists in a variation of silver or light blue sunburst, or a bi-colour PVD rose gold version, each one carving a new chapter in the Ballade’s continuing journey.

Across all models, the fluted bezel frames the dial as a tribute to tradition, while the sapphire crystal with a double anti-reflective layer ensures optimal readability. Enhanced with Super-LumiNova® on the hands and indexes, the dial remains clear in all conditions. The sunburst guilloché finish adds depth and texture, complemented by Roman numerals for a timeless touch. Completing the composition is a five-link interchangeable bracelet, a signature of the Ballade that adds sophistication to the design.

Powering the collection, the 39mm references house the Powermatic 80 with an 80-hour power reserve, while the 30mm references feature the Powermatic 48 with a 48-hour reserve, allowing time to flow uninterrupted long after the watch leaves the wrist.
