Sinn releases a new variant of their U50 dive watch. The 500m water resistant rating is available in three strap options, and now feature a beautiful matt-blue dial.

New: Sinn U50B

The Sinn U50B retails at EUR 2,350 in the textile strap, EUR 2,560 in the silicone strap and EUR 2,700 in stainless steel bracelet. Prices are inclusive of German VAT.

Commentary

The Sinn U50 is one of our favourite tool watches. The construction is top quality without attracting a huge price premium. We wrote about the model several times, and even postured it as a possible candidate to the best tool watch ever.

And what’s there not to like. The watch is constructed like the proverbial tank. Made from seawater resistant and high strength German Submarine Steel, it features a bezel with additional scratch resistant capability with their Tegiment technology.

The 40mm case wears nicely. The dial is now in a matte blue, which is a rather light hue, almost pastel. To our eyes, the aesthetics are beautiful. More so than the standard black dials which come with the U50. simply laid out, and hence legibility under all light conditions is excellent.

Needless to say, as this is a Sinn, the lume is very strong.

And the pricing is very approachable. This new blue model is priced exactly the same as the black dial version. And at circa EUR 2.5k +/1 depending on strap options, it is a good value buy.

The U50 B is a precision instrument for divers and at the same time a bold statement in design. The striking matt-blue dial immediately draws the eye, signalling the highest level of professionalism and underlining the uncompromising functionality of this watch – not least thanks to the white, luminous indices and hands, which provide a perfect contrast. The result: a harmonious overall appearance with outstanding readability.

In true SINN tradition, the U50 B combines well-conceived design with technical excellence: the case and crown are made of high-strength, seawater-resistant submarine steel with the highest non-magnetic quality – a material otherwise reserved for extreme maritime applications. The captive diver’s bezel proves to be especially scratch-resistant, as it has been further hardened with TEGIMENT Technology. A practical detail: the crown is positioned at 4 o’clock to prevent pressure on the back of the hand.

Whether for ambitious dives or as a reliable companion in everyday life, the U50 B excels in every respect, as confirmed by independent testing. Its suitability for underwater use has been verified and certified by an independent institute.
