The pricing was not released with the material we received, but we expect this to be in the budget watch range, as the base model is a Seiko 5 Sports.

Commentary

This novelty seemed interesting to us as we picked on the Ultraman cues in the release artwork, being totally unfamiliar with the Ultraseven. A little digging revealed that this is indeed a Japanese science fiction television series. Though named seven, it is the third instalment in the Ultra Series and was produced by Tsuburaya Productions. The series aired on Tokyo Broadcasting System from October 1, 1967 to September 8, 1968. And was the pre-cursor to the Ultraman series which came in 1979.

Ultraseven (ウルトラセブンUrutorasebun) is the third Ultra-being to come to Planet Earth. He came to the planet after being sent to map the Milky Way, but this planet caught his attention. On Earth, he took the appearance of a brave man and renamed himself as Dan Moroboshi, and joined the Utra Guards, an elite fighting force. He later was revealed to have a son named Ultraman Zero.

The watch itself is rather interesting looking. With a silver and black tone, and presented in a NATO strap. Seiko uses the colours of the uniforms of the Ultra Guard Terrestrial Defence Force for this novelty. The case is in steel and measures 42.5mm in diameter, with a diving bezel with black insert. The hour and minute hands are black with LumiBrite inserts and the seconds hand has a red tip with a LumiBrite lollipop counterweight. The crystal is Hardlex.

The case back is also in Hardlex, but hardly see through as it is emblazoned in white and translucent red imaging of the series The movement is the standard Seiko Calibre 4R36 used in previous Seiko 5 Sports collection.

The watch comes with a presentation metal box with Ultra Guard and logo sharing the space with the Seiko 5 logo.

The metallic texture of the dial and the design of the bezel are special specifications that follow the design of the original Seiko 5 Sports watch. By incorporating the coloring and capturing the worldview of the Ultra Guard into the watch, the timepiece is presented as if it were an official tool used by the Ultra Guard.

The strap is made of nylon material. It is specially designed with the Ultra Guard’s uniform colors and is marked with the words “Terrestrial Defense Force”.
