New Release: The SEVENFRIDAY P1B/03 Japan inspired off-series

Just in time for the Cherry Blossom season, SEVENFRIDAY introduces the P1B/03 Japan Off-Series. Its industrial essence inspiration personifies the traditions and values that have sustained the island nation’s ancient traditions to modern times and into the cultural zeitgeist of pop culture. From COMME des GARÇONS to BAPE, sushi to ramen, Pokémon to Super Mario, the P1B/03 Japan inspired Off-Series is an enlightened approach to the iconic P-Series’ square shape and rounded edge design.

The P1B/03 Japan inspired Off-Series makes new use of materials and printing effects to reflect the dynamism of old and new; past and present in a watch inspired by a country whose influence has transcended time. Ripe with tradition and influence, the P1B/03 Japan inspired Off-Series is a journey through the history and geography of the eastern archipelago. The multi-level interface incorporates rhodium and translucent discs surrounded by a white bezel made of ceramic, a nod to the enduring popularity of the tea ceremony. Never without symbolism, the base plate is pressed rhodium in a popular block-print wave pattern. Meticulously raked white sand found in zen gardens suggest water and purity on the opalin silver second layer while gun metal hour indicators at 1H, 3H, 5H, 7H and 11H represent rocks which are precisely placed as a symbol of permanence. The cherry wood animation ring takes inspiration from the seasonal gift of the Cherry Blossom Festival, celebrated throughout the country and around the world.

The symbiosis of opposites is mirrored in the white and black leather straps. The “SEVENFRIDAY” logo and popular mantra “Seize The Day” written in Japanese characters on white leather lay in contrast to the black inner strap lined with Hokusai-inspired wave print series of Mount Fuji. Stainless steel clips repeat the traditional block print wave pattern found on the interface. They reflect the metal piece on the Samurai sword handle.

“In every corner of the world, Japan’s influence is abound,” says Dan Niederer, Co-Founder and Owner of SEVENFRIDAY. Nowhere is that more evident than the Cherry Blossom Festival. This cultural phenomenon has transcended time and continents. Japan’s gift to the United States stands as a gift to the world along with its many other cultural contributions.

The P1B/03 Japan inspired Off-Series will be offered as a 450-piece limited edition this Spring during Cherry Blossom Festival worldwide beginning March 16, 2018.
