Commentary
This novelty is a line extension with a new dial. The dial has a textured finish in gold. And the dial looks like it shimmering as light strikes it at different angles.
Other than the dial, this is the exact same watch as the existing Captain Cook models. While we are more familiar with the ceramic cased Captain Cook watches, the steel cased ones are also powered by the same Rado R763, a rebranded ETA C07.611 customized with a distinct Rado branded rotor and is regulated in five positions to exceed standard accuracy tests. This movement has been used in all Captain Cook automatic watches, including the 37mm and 43mm variants as well as this 39mm model.
Pricing wise, there is a premium of CHF 250 for this novelty over the more standard Captain Cook R32223313 and the same price as the R32223408. Both are also 39mm steel case with bracelet and powered by the same movement. Thus it looks like Rado varies the retail prices based the complexity to make the dials.

A Rado calibre R763 automatic movement, featuring an antimagnetic Nivachron™ hairspring and an 80-hour power reserve, provides enhanced reliability, while white Super-LumiNova® infills ensure everything stays legible, even when the light fades.
The timepiece’s case diameter of 39mm adds to a new tier of Captain Cook watches launched to complement the collection’s existing case sizes in 37mm and 43mm. This crucial middle ground widens its appeal to those with wrists on the smaller side, but who still want to make an impact
EVOLUTIONARY UPGRADES
One additional evolution upgrades its adaptability. The watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet and a rubber strap, which can be quickly swapped using Rado’s EasyClip quick release system and stored in a black leather pouch.
For formal occasions, its metal bracelet is effortlessly stylish. Combining brushed outer links with polished, rice grain-type middle links, it offers a fluid-like feel, and an aesthetic that not only matches the polished stainless steel of the watch case, but pairs with any outfit.
