The next generation of the ever popular Omega Constellation is now launched. Here is the Press Release with our commentary in italics.

The Constellation collection has been available in 39 and 36 mm in both mechanical and quartz movements. In this release, the collection gets updated with a 41mm case size, and mechanical movements. The iconic claws and half-moon facets on either sides of the case are retained and the watch has the iconic Constellation DNA.

The new Omega Constellation 41mm. All models shown in this amalgam photograph have ceramic bezels, from L-R- two tone, SS, YG and SednaGold.

The press release shows 4 models pictured above, and the Omega UK Global site shows 8 models – 4 in SS case, 2 in two tone case, and two in gold cases. However, the pricing info we received from Omega Singapore only indicated 3 new models – both gold models and one SS/Ceramic bezel model, with no data on the SS/SS bezel or two tone models. The Omega Singapore website shows only these 3 models as well.

The new Omega models are in in stainless steel, 18K gold, or a combination of both. Additionally, almost all the bezels have been crafted in polished ceramic – replicating the look of the original Constellation Manhattan of 1982, which used shiny sapphire glass.

131.63.41.21.03.001 – 18K Sedna™ gold model features a polished blue ceramic bezel with Roman numerals in Ceragold™, a sun-brushed blue dial

Only one model in the new collection features its own stainless steel bezel, which is enhanced by blackened Roman numerals.

131.12.41.21.06.001 – Steel on rubber strap with the stainless steel bezel.

For the other models with ceramic bezels, the Roman numerals have been produced in either OMEGA Ceragold™ or Liquidmetal™.

The flatter, broader claws and revised crown design.

Bevelling along the edges of the case and claws has provided the collection with a more slender look compared to models of the past, and even the crown has been subtly reshaped for added style.

42mm seems to be rather well fitting on the wrist. But we will reserve judgement till we have tried the actual watch.

The Constellation collection began in 1952, and revised in 1982 into the Manhattan styling we now recognize. The claws at 3 and 9 were introduced. In the new 2020 41mm Constellation we are introducing here, the claws have been reworked – now made broader and flatter than the original Manhattan. The other styling change is the moving of the Roman hour markers to the bezel and using indices shaped like the triangular facets of the Freedom Tower on the dial. These styling changes were made in the last revision for the 36mm and 39mm models.

Most of the new 2020 models will be presented on leather straps with an anti-bacterial rubber lining. A decorative metallic link connects each side of the strap to the case, creating a unique look of its own. Those who prefer an overall metallic look can match their new model with any bracelet in the Constellation 39mm collection, or its full leather strap.

Finally, the caseback features sapphire crystal that offers a view of the Omega Master Co-Axial Calibre 8900 / 8901 inside. The SS and two tone models are equipped with the Caliber 8900, while the gold cased models use the Caliber 8901. The two calibers are identical, except that the 8901 has a more luxurious finishing.
