Commentary

Yet another collaboration between Alain Silberstein and a watchmaker, the umpteenth for him, and yet another with Louis Erard, we count 8 which have published information and reviews. But the formula is already tried and tested, and a winning one, and why not repeat it. So here we go, two new releases of the collaboration. One is a Smile-Day in blue, and the other is an Oliver Mory Tourbillon, also in blue.

The Smile‑Day Blue is playful on the surface but thoughtfully executed underneath. Powered by an automatic Sellita SW220‑1 movement with day and date displayed at 6 o’clock, it balances everyday usability with a bold visual language that only Alain Silberstein could design. The expressive day display uses color and emotion rather than a sun or moon, while the classic Silberstein hands in red, white, and yellow provide instant legibility against the blue sunray dial. At 40 mm in titanium, it wears comfortably and feels light on the wrist, reinforced by a breathable nylon strap with a Velcro fastening system that favors comfort and ease over tradition.

The Tourbillon Régulateur Blue takes the collaboration into far more technical territory while keeping the same playful design DNA. Developed with independent watchmaker Olivier Mory, the hand‑wound tourbillon movement offers a long power reserve and a traditional regulator display that separates hours, minutes, and seconds. Despite housing a tourbillon, the titanium 40 mm case remains wearable and surprisingly discreet. This watch feels less about spectacle and more about coherence, where mechanics, ergonomics, and design language work together rather than compete.

Press Release

Louis Erard introduces two new models created in collaboration with Alain Silberstein, the Smile‑Day Blue and the Tourbillon Régulateur Blue. These releases mark the launch of the brand’s new Hall of Fame collection, a long‑term ecosystem designed to preserve and celebrate exceptional collaborations. The concept balances permanence and rarity, allowing select watches to remain part of the core offering while maintaining controlled production levels that preserve exclusivity.

Production is deliberately limited on an annual basis. The Smile‑Day Blue will be produced in a maximum of 250 pieces per year, while the Tourbillon Régulateur Blue will be limited to 50 pieces annually. These models join the permanent collection rather than being one‑off limited editions, reinforcing the idea that certain designs deserve long‑term recognition rather than short‑lived releases.

The Smile‑Day Blue introduces a unique emotional day display at 6 o’clock, using a smiling face that changes color throughout the week. Black expressions appear from Monday to Friday, while weekends are marked in red, with the smile growing larger as the week progresses. Traditional hands and clear proportions ensure readability, while the playful complication adds personality without sacrificing practicality. The watch is housed in a 40 mm titanium case and paired with a lightweight heathered blue nylon strap featuring an integrated hook‑and‑loop fastening system.

The Tourbillon Régulateur Blue is powered by a hand‑wound regulator tourbillon movement developed specifically for Louis Erard by Olivier Mory. The tourbillon sits prominently at 6 o’clock, with the hours displayed at 12 o’clock and minutes shown centrally. The blue sunray dial acts as a restrained backdrop for the exposed mechanics, allowing the movement to remain the focus. The 40 mm micro‑blasted titanium case and ergonomic strap system are designed for long‑term comfort, reinforcing the watch’s purpose as a wearable technical instrument rather than a purely decorative object.

Both models feature a consistent visual language defined by primary colors, simple geometric hands, and disciplined layout. Red, white, yellow, and blue remain central to Silberstein’s design vocabulary, ensuring instant recognition. With the introduction of the Hall of Fame, Louis Erard positions these watches not as short‑term novelties but as lasting references within modern independent watchmaking, where creativity, technique, and authenticity coexist.
