Commentary

Longines keeps the standard HydroConquest formula intact and applies a Games-specific design language on top. The teal gradient dial and small color accents do most of the work. The limited run and event branding makes the core differentiation from the regular models. 2,026 pieces per size is specific but not especially restrictive, and offering both 39 mm and 42 mm makes it easy to place within the existing lineup. This is closer to a commemorative variation than a separate release. If anything, it reinforces how standardized the HydroConquest has become as a platform for these kinds of editions.

Press Release

As Official Timekeeper and Official Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Longines introduces a limited edition HydroConquest to mark the event. The brand’s involvement with the Commonwealth Games dates back to 1962, and this release continues that long-running relationship. The watch is limited to 2,026 pieces in each of two case sizes and carries design elements drawn directly from the Glasgow 2026 identity.

The watch is built in a round stainless steel case, available in 39 mm and 42 mm diameters, each with a thickness of 11.70 mm. Lug to lug measurements are 48.10 mm for the 39 mm version and 51.20 mm for the 42 mm, with lug widths of 20 mm and 21 mm respectively. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal featuring multi layer anti reflective coating on both sides and a screw in crown. Water resistance is rated to 30 bar, equivalent to 300 meters.

The unidirectional rotating bezel is equipped with a black ceramic insert and a count up scale. Numerals are rendered in a teal tone to match the dial, and the zero marker includes a Super LumiNova filled capsule for low light visibility. The dial itself features a lacquered gradient finish transitioning from teal to black. Applied indexes and rhodium plated hands are treated with Super LumiNova for legibility, and the central seconds hand is distinguished by a pink tip. The “HydroConquest” text appears in violet, completing the color scheme based on the Games branding.

Powering the watch is the Longines calibre L888.5, a self winding mechanical movement operating at 25,200 vibrations per hour. It uses a silicon balance spring and delivers a power reserve of up to 72 hours. The movement is designed to resist magnetic fields beyond ISO 764 standards. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and a date display positioned at 3 o’clock.

The screw down case back is engraved with the official Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games logo along with the inscription “LIMITED EDITION ONE OF 2026 COMMONWEALTH GAMES GLASGOW 2026.” The watch is fitted with a black rubber strap and secured by a double folding safety clasp with a push piece opening system and micro adjustment capability.

This release forms part of Longines’ broader multi Games agreement, covering Birmingham 2022, Glasgow 2026, and the 2030 Commonwealth Games, continuing its role in sports timing and event partnership at an international level.
