Small independent watchmaker from Glashütte introduces his second watch with his own movement. Here is the release information on the Kudoke 2 Nocturne.
Kudoke 2 was presented in 2019, and for 2020, a new limited edition is produced with a dark dial in contrast to the original’s silver white dial.
Kudoke 2 Nocturne
The dial is made by galvanic plating, and is presented as a anthracite hue, to evoke the feeling of the night sky. The dial changes dramatically from light grey to black and white depending on lighting conditions.
The day/night indicator is rotating domed disc on a subdial at 12. This disc is hand engraved and treated in an elaborate process to show as colours of yellow gold, black and white radium painting the picture of the day and night in a sun and moon motif.
The indices are represented by markers on a rhodium plated chapter ring that frame the black dial. The hands are made in-house with the hour hand being a fancy shape showing the infinity symbol which is the calling card of Kudoke’s Handwerk line. The minute hand is a long and slender with a more traditional shape. Both hands feature a high polish finish.
The movement: Kaliber 1-24H
The movement is a new version of the manual winding Kaliber 1 which is an in-house development by Kudoke. A 24 hour indicator is added to the base movement.
The layout is almost a full plate covering all the wheel train except for the balance wheel. The balance cock is a cover over the upper plate is hand hammered, polished and anglaged finish. This shiny cock is held in place by a blued screw and features the hand engraved infinity symbol. The finish is bright and it contrasts nicely to the rest of the upper plate which has a matte finish made by hand graining.
The overall effect is a rather more sober and muted aesthetic compared to the standard Kaliber 1 which is finished with yellow gold plating.
Matching the year, only 20 pieces of this special watch are available worldwide. The limited edition model is priced at 8,665 EUR (excl. VAT) as is the original KUDOKE 2 .
