Eberhard & Co chooses an unusual sponsorship which reaffirms their connection with the world of photography. The collaboration is with fotofever Paris, an international art fair dedicated to contemporary photography. Eberhard will present the winner of the competition with a new watch, designed for the occassion. The Eberhard Extra-fort Grande Taille Roue à Colonnes.

fotofever – Paris
The event will be held in Paris at the Carrousel du Louvre from 8th to 10th November 2019. A select panel of experts will chose a winner based on the theme of Time from the works exhibited at this 8th edition of fotofever. The prize, known as the Eberhard Award will be announced on November 7, and the winner will be presented with the new Eberhard Extra-fort Grande Taille Roue à Colonnes.
L’Appartement du Collectionneur, located at the fair entrance, will display works by artistic director Yuki Baumgarten as well as one of the latest timepieces presented by Eberhard & Co.: a new version of the Extra-fort Grande Taille Roue à Colonnes.
We think this collaboration with fotofever is an interesting one taken by Eberhard, given that most sponsorships by watch companies usually go in the direction of motorsports, or vintage automobiles. This is a fresh breath for Eberhard, who remains a small independent manufacturer, and seals their commitment to the art world, in particular with photography. We think this is a great start in the right direction by Eberhard, and would like to see more such collaborations. Perhaps a deeper involvement between the Eberhard and fotofever to jointly develop a new watch.
Eberhard Extra-fort Grande Taille Roue à Colonnes
The Extra-fort collection has always had a prominent position within the Eberhard world, and is the oldest of the collection from the maison. The first Extra-fort models were in fact produced in the nineteen-forties, and over these eighty years since, Eberhard has never abandoned this symbolic collection, and it still is prominently offered in the current catalog.
The watch is the extension of the Extra-fort Grande Taille with a new movement which is equipped with a column wheel (Roue à Colonne) . Earlier version of the Extra-fort Grande Taille was equipped with a cam chronograph mechanism. A version of the Extra-fort exists with a column wheel in the current catalog, but that comes with a grande date.
Presented in a 41 mm steel case that is water resistant to 50 m and is offered in different dial variants, all with ” frappée” and “azurée” counters, and complemented by alligator straps or the “Chalin” steel bracelet.
