Commentary
We covered the original release of the 100 year anniversary piece by Delma – their 1924 Tourbillon last year. In this novelty release, the maison releases two new dial colours.

The dial is either in blue or salmon, both with grains de riz guilloché (grains of rice). The 2024 release had a sable black and features a grained finish. Other aspects of the watch remains the same.

The case shape which we loved in the 2024 release is retained. It is a tonneau shaped case with a raised and sloped bezel. The case sides also feature crown guards. Finishing on the stainless steel case is satin brushed, highlighted by a high polished beveled edge between the upper surfaces and the case band. The steel bracelet is a 3 link design with a wide center link flanked by two offset smaller links. The watch is delivered with both this bracelet and a black calf strap.

The movement also is remains unchanged – the Caliber DT100.01 is conceived by Olivier Mory of BCP Tourbillons. Oliver is the mainstay in full Swiss made movements which are priced more like those from the Far East.

Pricing is interesting. The pre-order price is lower than the pre-order for last year’s edition – the new one at CHF 9.25k vs CHF 9.9k. But the release price is now CHF 12.9k vs CHF 12.5k.
Release details
Every DELMA watch is conceived with careful attention to style and performance and the 1924 Tourbillon is an elite example. The new editions are a subtle evolution of the exquisite series centered upon our 100% Swiss proprietary movement which epitomizes DELMA’s progress and history.

The new DELMA signature blue and salmon color grains de riz guilloche pattern dials add depth and sophistication to an already noteworthy timepiece. Rich in nuanced detail, they surround and enhance the captivating tourbillon movement. The applied hour markers, hour and minute hands are palladium, nickel-plated, and lined with white Super-LumiNova® BGW9.

The gravity defying tourbillon positions the escapement and regulating organ within a cage that revolves 360° every 60 seconds. It sits at the heart of the Caliber DT100.01, a hand-wound movement with a prodigious power reserve of 105 hours. Unlike most watches, which feature an index-regulated balance, the DELMA Tourbillons are equipped with a variable-inertia balance, delivering superior precision. The balance is fitted with a shock absorption system and the movement is shock-protected up to 5000 G. Additionally, the Caliber DT100.01 comprises non-magnetic components including an alloy hairspring and a Glucydur balance wheel, enabling it to withstand magnetic fields of up to 2000 gauss.

Consistent with fine watchmaking, the movement is beautifully decorated. The baseplate is adorned with perlage, while the bridges, visible via the exhibition case back, are embellished with Côtes de Genève and golden text. A sprinkling of blue screws subscribes to the horological tradition, while the movement is ruthenium-treated and dressed in a contemporary dark gray finish.
The 41 mm case is formed of 316L stainless steel. All surfaces of the case are brushed aside from the highly polished beveled edges spanning the top and sides of the case. The crown nestles between the shoulders of a crown protector and is equipped with an attractive grip that facilitates easy manipulation.

Fitted with a stainless-steel bracelet featuring a deployant clasp, the DELMA Tourbillons are supplied in a sumptuous presentation box containing an additional coordinating hand-made Italian leather strap with folding clasp. Quick-release spring bars allow the wearer to switch to the strap, or vice-versa, without requiring the use of tools.
From classic and dress models for lasting appeal to sports and racing watches for extreme adventure, the DELMA Tourbillon collection is the epitome of over 100 years of Swiss made watchmaking.
