Commentary
The most unique feature of the watch is the outline lume instead of a traditional lume fill on the hour markers. The watch combines a 42mm microblasted black ceramic case with 300-meter water resistance, meeting ISO 6425 standards while keeping a lightweight profile. The BR-CAL.302-1 automatic movement provides a 54-hour power reserve. The caliber is a modified SW300 movement with a longer power reserve while maintaining the 4Hz frequency.

The black ceramic bezel integrates smoothly with the case, and its two strap options—a black rubber strap and an ultra-resistant synthetic fabric strap—offer the iconic military inspired style. The unique lume display and limited quantity will appeal to fans of the Bell & Ross case who also want a dive watch.

A technical asset, luminescence is also the distinctive style signature of the BR-03 Diver Lum Outline. This new tool‑watch for Bell & Ross divers, limited to 500 pieces, plays on the effect of highlighting only the contours, much like a neon outline. A minimalist, highly functional vision of light.

Originally a purely technical feature, Super-LumiNova® has always served a practical purpose: to make the dial’s indicators visible in the dark. This is essential for professional watches, whether in the aeronautical, marine, or underwater environments.
Bold and powerful, the new BR-03 Diver Lum Outline asserts the core lines of the Lum concept with an original twist: it highlights just the outlines. “Like the neon of an illuminated sign, the green Super-LumiNova® traces and lights up the contours of the hands and indices. It’s as if we’d drawn this dial with a green highlighter on matte black paper. In the dark, the hour markers are perfectly legible. Here, photoluminescence is a visual signature that’s both useful and decorative, day and night,” explains Bruno Belamich.

An enthusiast of modernist architecture and design, Bell & Ross’s Creative Director and co-founder embraces Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s motto, “Less is More,” celebrating beauty in simplicity and functionality.
Offering optimal readability by day and night, luminescence has been at the heart of Bell & Ross creations since the brand’s inception. Initially confined to a practical role, it first appeared in the 1930s with the use of radium. However, due to its radioactivity and limited glow duration, safer, longer-lasting technologies were sought. The arrival of Super-LumiNova® in 1993 marked a major milestone. Eager to push further, Bell & Ross developed an original concept to amplify luminous power.

Launched with the BR 03-92 Horolum in 2017 and followed by the BR 03-92 Nightlum a year later, the Lum series is defined by the exceptional glow of its numerals, indices, and hands. In 2019, the BR 03-92 Full Lum went even further, featuring a dial entirely coated in Super-LumiNova® that lights up by contrast. Playing with chromatic effects, Bell & Ross unveiled the BR 03-92 Grey Lum in 2020, emitting an intense green glow reminiscent of runway lighting, followed by the BR 03-92 Diver Full Lum, which combined two shades of luminescence—light green and pale yellow—on its dial. In 2021, the limited-edition vintage BR V2-94 Full Lum showcased a refined aesthetic, proving the Full Lum concept could seamlessly blend with classic watch design. The innovation continued in 2022 with the BR V2-92 Full Lum delivering an ultra-luminous take on a three-hand watch, and the BR-X5 Green Lum introducing an unprecedented luminescent case construction using a photoluminescent LM3D composite. Today, Bell & Ross continues this creative journey with a fresh approach: the BR-03 Diver Lum Outline.

Whatever the creative approach, a Bell & Ross watch’s design is always guided by the requirement of perfect legibility. Underwater or at high altitude, time information must be instantly understandable, and the new BR-03 Diver Lum Outline upholds this rule.
Its “baignoire” style applied indices and skeletonized hour and minute hands are filled with black varnish, making the green luminescent outline stand out. The matte black varnished dial, topped by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, features a green printed minute track, while the seconds hand has a green tip and black counterweight. To complement the micro-blasted black ceramic case, Bell & Ross offers two strap options—a black rubber strap and a black synthetic fabric strap—both fitted with a matte black PVD-treated steel buckle.
