New: Ba111od Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon

The Ba111od Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon retails at CHF 8,800 before taxes. Available for pre-order. Deliveries begin in Dec 2025. Available on the Ba111od website.
Commentary
Followup to their flying tourbillon with moonphase released earlier this year, Ba111od introduces a very classical watch with just the bare essentials. Minute and hour hands over a polished black onyx dial with an aperture to showcase the flying tourbillon.

No other embellishments is offered, and in our opinion needed. Even the branding is super discreet. In black ink, pad printed on the stone dial…almost invisible except with certain angles of incident lighting.

This canvas with dark, negative space almost presents the flying tourbillon as an altar offering to the watchmaking gods.

The 904L steel case in the usual Ba111od style, with welded lugs and the crown at 4 o’clock. The 41mm case size being very on point for a gentleman’s wrist watch these days.
And as usual, Ba111od breaks the price. This time, coming in at below CHF 8.9k. Once again taking the prize for the least expensive all Swiss made tourbillon with a stone dial. Impressive indeed. And for now, there is even an early bird price of just CHF 7.92k!
Press Release
After making a strong impression during this spring’s watch fairs with its first chronometer-certified flying tourbillon featuring a moon phase and small seconds, BA111OD now takes a new step in its exploration of haute horlogerie. Fueled by the enthusiastic response to that complex debut and a growing demand from collectors drawn to a more minimalist and contemporary approach, the Neuchâtel-based Maison now unveils a radically refined interpretation: the Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon. Stripped of all superfluous elements, this exceptional timepiece embodies a design philosophy rooted in absolute purity — where the noble materiality of black onyx meets the lightness of a suspended tourbillon. A creation sculpted between shadow and light, where every detail celebrates the quiet beauty of essentials, mastered.
The Essence, Elevated
Free from all visual distraction, the Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon represents the natural evolution of the Chapter 4.7 Onyx Tourbillon, which will soon be retired from the collection. Even more refined, it draws the eye to a single point of gravity: the flying tourbillon. With its upper bridge removed, the mechanism exists in a state of hypnotic graphic purity, performing a graceful mechanical ballet. Its finely crafted openworked cage embodies the very essence of Swiss horological savoir-faire and reflects BA111OD’s ongoing pursuit of visual and technical lightness.

Here, emptiness becomes a space for contemplation — sculpted to reveal only what is essential. This stripped-back aesthetic finds its anchor in a dial cut from natural black onyx, simply polished. Its surface, deep and dense, captures light only to absorb it — evoking an infinite night sky, silent yet full of presence.
A symbol of strength and elegance, this precious stone gives the watch a unique aura — standing at the crossroads of timelessness and modernity.
Sculptural Balance and Play of Contrasts
The polished 904L stainless steel case, with its concave profile and subtly recessed bezel, asserts a distinctly modern design. Its 41mm diameter is perfectly proportioned — offering a confident presence on the wrist, without ever tipping into excess. Topped with an anti-reflective box-shaped sapphire crystal, this refined architecture reveals the hand-wound mechanical movement at the heart of the watch, animated by the suspended elegance of the flying tourbillon.
Like a true horological work of art, the Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon plays with opposites: depth and matter, the mineral density of onyx and the airy lightness of motion. It is an architectural composition, perfectly mastered — where every line, every curve orchestrates a dance of reflections between shadow and light.
Minimalism as a Manifesto
Conceived as a horological work of art, this piece embraces a rare form of radical purity within its segment. No ostentatious logo — only a discreet tone-on-tone signature. No superfluous effects — only the raw strength of amovement laid bare.
Making the Exceptional Accessible
Developed in collaboration with master watchmaker Olivier Mory, this new Chapter reflects BA111OD’s ongoing mission: making the exceptional accessible.“We wanted a watch that speaks to the senses before it speaks to reason. Something rare, yet readable. Silent, yet powerful. Chapter 4 is a tribute to gravity, purity and the obsession with beauty.” Explains Thomas Baillod, founder of the brand.
The Commitment of a Maison, the Soul of a Region
True to its Neuchâtel roots, BA111OD expresses a contemporary vision of haute horlogerie — one that fuses innovation, local craftsmanship, and creative daring. With the Chapter 4 Onyx Flying Tourbillon, the Maison fully embodies this philosophy: a creation that unites the heritage of horological artistry with an aesthetic that is both minimalist and timeless.
