A new GMT two timezone watch is released for SEVENFRIDAY, and we met up with Daniel Niederer, Co-Founder and CEO to get a hands on with this novelty.

The case, dial and hands
This is the first GMT or two timezone watch released by SEVENFRIDAY. And it gets the cheeky name of Mean Time, double entrende fully intended. The display is made very easy to use. The design is clean and intuituive. With the yellow hand reading the second timezone on the 24 hour silver chapter ring. The local time is read with a turqoise coloured hand. A longer, slender minute hand is in white.
The case is retained from the revised P series watches., which was originally released at 47mm x 47.6mm, but now a more friendly 44.5mm x 55mm case size. The case remains stainless steel, with a bezel which has a grooved line filled with Berlac lacquer.
The dial is constructed out of 4 separate layers. From the periphery lip, the black 3D printed minute chapter ring features minute markings on the flat outermost part, and 10 minute markers on a sloped bowl like structure. This leads to an outer ring which is glavanised in gunmetal and sunray satinated. Further inwards, a rhodium plated ring is engraved with the hour markers in 24 hour format. The engravings are infilled with black. A pointer shaped protrusion at about 4:30 carries a chamfered aperture to show the date.
The watch is available in a rather beautifully made Milanese bracelet or in the standard black calf strap. The Milanese bracelet is just USD 20 more than the calf strap, and we would recommend that you get this version.
The movement
The movement is also retained from the Miyota, and now features the Cal. 9075 GMT. This is a standard workhorse movement, and should prove to be up to the task of daily wear from a road warrior or jet setter.
As is now customary for SEVENFRIDAY, the case back shows an NFC label with the chip embedded to allow secure authentication when registered on the SEVENFRIDAY app. Dan tells us that they have moved the technology from NFT to Blockchain for improved security.
Concluding thoughts
Overall this is a rather beautiful timepiece from SEVENFRIDAY. The GMT function is certainly a welcomed complication which will be useful for a watch which is quite well suited for use as a daily beater and even for the jet setter. The modest cost, rugged design especially with the steel bracelet, and the non-shouty look makes it a great watch for travel.
