Next at the Ferdinand Berthoud boutique in Geneva, I was presented with the latest addition to the FB 3 family – the FB 3SPC.4.1 in a ceramicised titanium case. Here are my hands-on impressions

Hands-on with the FB 3SPC.4.1

The Ferdinand Berthoud FB 3 is a special watch which has a much deserved place in my heart. I wrote lyrical when I first saw the watch, and an essay on why I think it should win the Chronometrie Prize at GPHG:

This new release has not changed my mind about the watch a single bit, but reinforced my love for the FB3. This new execution is clothed in a grey ceramicised titanium case. The look is very sporty. The grey case, the greyish dial is absolutely stunning. And looks much younger than the classical gold versions.

The movement is the same and unchanged, and award winning chronometry. The same level of high finishing is applied and the monotone look is very charming.

Paired in a pale blue fabric strap, it looks the part as the well heeled urban warrior’s watch of choice. The 42.3mm case size feels smaller than the dimensions would suggest. The feel as worn is very light, and the lugs allow the watch to nicely curve around the natural contours of my wrist very comfortably.
