I bumped up with my good friend Boon and he dragged me to Dominique Renaud and we were presented with the Pulse 60. This is not a new release, but the first time I handled this beautiful watch. Here is my honest opinion on this piece.

Hands-on Impressions

Handling the watch for the first time, the Pulse 60 felt was much more impressive than the photographs.

The case is only 39.5mm, and it fits my wrist very nicely. The lug-less design has the case feeling like it curves around, wrapping the wrist. The case curves around and extends almost seamlessly into the rubber straps. The feel is comfortable. The titanium piece I tried is very light.

The balance is huge, and the way it moves…very slowly…mesmerising. On standard 25fps video, the way the balance moves looks a bit strange. But with the eyes, it is very mesmerising. Click on the image above for a video of the moving balance.

The movement uses a remontoire to ensure that proper power is delivered to the 1 Hz escapement. This is the first commercialised version of this very slow beating movement. The Antoine Martin Slowrunner was never commercialised, and never ran good. The Pulse 60 is rated +/- 15 to 20 seconds a day.
