We dropped by Louis Moinet’s station at the PitStop cafe in the Quai des Bergues and got those hands-on with the two novelties. First the Moon Meteorite and the Stellarium Tourbillon.

Live from GWD26: Louis Moinet Moon Meteorite & Stellarium hands-on

The Louis Moinet Moon Meteorite retails at CHF 48,000 and the Stellarium retails at CHF 148,000. Both before taxes. Both limited edition of 12 pieces each.

Both watches are designed by Nathanaël Schaller. This shows the succession from Jean-Marie who tragically passed away earlier this year.

Impressions of the Louis Moinet Moon Meterorite

This is a completely new reference from Louis Moinet. Everything is special. The complication is the moon phase showing HMS as well.

The case is 40.7mm and wears very nicely on my 180mm flat wrist.

The dial is amazing. The base dial is a hand painted cosmos. The painting includes streaks of luminescent pigments which reveals itself at night. In the middle, it carries dome made of Muonionslusta meteorite.

A astronaut walking which is hand engraved acts as the pointer for the moon phase which is indicated by two other meteorites, one bright made of Gadamis 005 Meteorite and one dark Dhofar 457 Meteorite. The two moons move across to show full moon when the white disc is directly below the astronaut. And the new moon when it aligns with the dark disc. Three other meteorites are depicted by additional meteorites around the dial.

The movement is Calibre LM113 which is a base movement which Louis Moinet moonphase watches before. As usual, the movement is made for Louis Moinet by Concepto.

Impressions of the Louis Moinet Stellarium

I also had a hands-on with the new Stellarium. Also with a dial made with Muonionalusta meteorite. The dial is a deep blue using a special treatment to the meteorite slice.

On the wrist the 42.5mm case wears smaller that the dimension would suggest. I do find that the 23mm case thickness to be rather high.

The movement is taken from the time and tested Calibre LM180 in many other Louis Moinet watches with Flying Tourbillon.

The back shows the solar system accurate to a specific date which can be chosen by the client. In this watch, it shows the position of the planets in the solar system on March 21, 2013 which was the date when Louis Moinet “Compteur de Tierces”.
