A new independent joins the top echelon of watchmaking with a watch in a new material – cuprum 479.

Cuprum is an alloy being patented by Alchemist made of 80% copper, silver and gold. Copper is know from Egyptian times to have curative properties.

The new watch is called Cu29.

Complications: cylindrical balance, Twin barrels giving 72 hours power reserve. The movement is inverted as the case back is solid to allow the cuprum to be in contact with the skin. This gives the watch a 3D look from the dial side. The crystal dial side is an atmospheric glass like a dome expanding from the base of the case to protect caliber. The dome is pierced by the crown insert.

The hour minutes are sundials and the seconds have their own subdial. The sundials are rounded and seem to floating above the main plate. Dial options are available – the pictured in lapis lazuli.

Case is 44mm x 15.4mm high. 362 components with power reserve indicator.

CHF 265,000.
