Today is April the 1st but this is no joke at all and does answer a question about a certain rare Patek Philippe. It is known from a old black and white photograph that King Michael of Romania has a Patek Philippe Reference 1518 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. It is rumoured that the case of the watch is two tone, a combination of stainless steel and rose gold.
The only photograph showing the watch clearly was a black and white photograph of the King as a young man.

The writer of this article decided to see if there were any colour photographs of the King wearing his Ref 1518 and after some searching found a nice clear shot of the watch on his wrist.

From the photo the case appears to made from yellow or rose gold and not a combination of gold and stainless steel as previously thought.
This is certainly an interesting development for the Reference 1518 from Patek Phillipe and was a surprise for us when we unearthed it!

King Michael, what an extraordinary guy! He’s 95, a hell of life. Wear it in good health, sire!
