Commentary

New additions to the iconic Bvlgari Aluminium collection. The collection has been growing since the re-introduction in 2020. A special limited edition was released in 2022 honouring Amerigo Vespucci (now sold out), an Italian navy training vessel. It was expanded with new dial variations in 2023.

The novelties released in this announcement are released in the GMT, Chronograph and Automatic sub-family within the Aluminium collection. This release is purely to add to the existing lineup with new colour variations. And is usual with Bvlgari, the aesthetics are on point and the three novelties look very attractive.

The three novelties are the new Aluminium GMT with a black dial, the Aluminium Chronograph Smeraldo in a fumé style green dial (from intense emerald green to white), and a minimalist Aluminium Automatic in white.

The prices of the novelties are the same as the existing models in the same lineup.

BVlgari Aluminium

In 2024, Bvlgari elevates the contemporary elegance of the Bvlgari Aluminium by exploring three new creative horizons:

Embark on a journey between worlds with the GMT, dressed in its historical black and white livery; time your adventures with the vibrant Smeraldo chronograph; and embrace simplicity with the three-hand Solotempo automatic in immaculate white.

***

In 1998, the Bvlgari Aluminium disrupted the watch scene and, in the process, revolutionized contemporary luxury.

With its fusion of aluminum and rubber, this intensely sporty yet chic watch emerged as a pinnacle of innovation, with a graphic flair that is undeniably Italian.

Its bold bezel embossed with the now-iconic 14-letter signature, Bvlgari Bvlgari.

In 2020, its unique and visionary identity was reborn, powered by an automatic mechanical movement. Honoured as an iconic watch at the GPHG 2020 and later for its design at the Red Dot Best of the Best 2023, the Bvlgari Aluminium transcends genres, ages, and trends. With daring and style, the 2024 editions once again reinvent its versatile allure.

In the Spring of 2024, Bvlgari Aluminium again captures the zeitgeist with three striking new models. The latest models include the GMT version in a historic black and white livery, accented with a tantalising touch of red, the Smeraldo chronograph model, and the automatic Solotempo version in pristine white. Each watch is a testament to character and a discerning sense of design. These interpretations of the Bvlgari Aluminium pulsate with the Maison’s italianità, that unmistakable Italian flair that captures its relaxed and unmatched style. Disruptive and graphic, yet iconic as ever, this year’s creations showcase new levels of creativity and freshness.

  • The Bvlgari Aluminium Black GMT embraces strong visual codes, featuring a bold interplay of black, white, and red that echoes the icon’s debut in 1998. With its 40 mm case and distinct identity, this timepiece is as sophisticated as it is relaxed; it evokes the spirit of adventure and a love for travelling, exploring across territories and datelines.
  • The Bvlgari Aluminium Chronograph Smeraldo captures the joy and carefreeness of vacanze italiane, Italian holidays. Its dial graduates from an intense emerald green to white, reminiscent of the shades of the Mediterranean hues of Sardinia. The caseback, engraved with a Rosa dei venti compass rose, and the matching watch box, also in a sea green gradient, underscore the exclusive nature of this limited edition.
  • With its direct, minimalist aesthetic that challenges established norms, the Bvlgari Aluminium White Automatic is a breath of fresh air in the heart of summer. Classically iconic yet absolutely contemporary in its elegance, this limited edition makes a statement with its monochromatic and vibrant approach.

Bvlgari Aluminium black GMT

Modern Voyager

In 1998, the Bvlgari Aluminium made a bold statement with its unprecedented combination of materials and a graphic, contrasting design that featured black counters on an off-white dial. In 2020, Bvlgari reissued this emblematic watch, faithful to its unique blend of avant-garde materials and a design that remains as relevant and contemporary as ever. The materials align with the highest technological standards, featuring aluminum alloy 6082, also used in aerospace, and FKM rubber, renowned for its durability in watchmaking.

In 2021, the Bvlgari design studio enhanced the Bvlgari Aluminium with a GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function, adding a new dimension for travelers. Initially released in blue, the watch showcased a dual time zone capability, inviting wearers to journey across the world. This feature serves as a homage to the year the Bvlgari Aluminium was launched, when its imagery graced the fuselage of an Alitalia Boeing 747 on its transcontinental flights.

This year’s edition is even more emblematic, as the Bvlgari Aluminium Black GMT, returns to its original, powerful visual identity: a white dial set against the black bezel and rubber strap. The GMT function is color-coded with red for ‘day’ hours and black for ‘night’ hours, ensuring intuitive time-reading. The secondary hour hand is distinguished by a white arrow trimmed in red. In low light, the hands and markers, coated with Super-LumiNova®, provide outstanding visibility. The user-friendly design of the Bvlgari Aluminium Black GMT makes setting local time and any chosen time zone simple, using just the crown. Moreover, the date display is subtly positioned at 3 o’clock. This latest interpretation of the Bvlgari Aluminium GMT reveals the exquisite aesthetic sense that appeals to the most sophisticated globetrotters.

Bvlgari aluminium ChronoGRAPH SMERALDO

Mediterranean Odyssey

The spirit of la dolce vita, evoked by the limited Capri editions in 2023, continues into the spring of 2024. The Bvlgari Aluminium Chronograph Smeraldo extends the Italian seaside holiday narrative, inviting a metaphorical plunge into the Sardinian blue. This limited-edition of 1000 pieces is distinguished by its remarkable dial, graduating from white to turquoise green. Matched with a deep green rubber for the bezel and strap, articulated with aluminum links, the watch exudes a sense of playfulness and sophistication. The dial, with green chronograph counters, dark green hands, and a date window at 4:30, ushers in summer with vibrancy and elegance.

Pulsating at the heart of the Bvlgari Aluminium Chronograph Smeraldo is the automatic B130 mechanical movement, featuring chronograph and date functions. With its intuitive start/stop and reset pushers, timing precision is at the wearer’s command. The titanium caseback sports an intricate Rosa dei venti engraving. Encapsulating the essence of an Italian summer, this exclusive model is encased in a box that echoes the sea’s shimmering green tones.

bvlgari aluminium white AUTOMATIC
The vibrance of white

Bvlgari offers a fresh take on its disruptive icon, the Bvlgari Aluminium, now presented in striking monochrome white. This distinctive look boldly states its invigorating energy. The bezel, emblazoned with the 14 letters of Bvlgari Bvlgari, echoes the brand’s bold move in 1977. Its design draws inspiration from the coins of ancient Rome, stamped with the emperor’s name, to exude an intensely Italian elegance. White, pure, unfettered, adaptable, and versatile, this limited-edition of 1000 pieces graces the wrist with a gender-neutral appeal. Its high-tech materials make it an icon that remains as fascinating as it is durable.

Here, the aluminum dial is paired with rhodium-plated indexes and hands, highlighted with Super-LumiNova® for brilliance. The date display at 3 o’clock combines functionality with an aesthetic balance. Energizing, invigorating, and refreshing – dressed in white, this new edition reveals the legend’s graphic and bold lines like never before.
